I learned guitar at age 11 in Bountiful, UT. Since then, my musical journey has included playing in many rock and country bands, then a MS degree in music from CU Denver. I also worked at the CMA office in Nashville and at Barry Fey’s concert company in Denver. My performance experience includes playing at large venues (Rainbow Music Hall and Regis Fieldhouse in Denver) and opening for national acts, Ramones, Romantics, Huey Lewis, The Producers, and Talking Heads. My introduction to bluegrass was years ago at church, where I was asked to play guitar and then discovered Stanley Brothers, Louvin Brothers, Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and many others. I currently also play and sing in the Bluegrass, Country, and Americana band, Orchard Creek. I also teach Wernick Method Bluegrass workshops in Boulder, Colorado where I live with my wife Donna Colville.
